The area is numbed with local anesthesia during tooth extraction, and the tooth is gently loosened and removed.
Surgical techniques may be required in some cases, particularly with impacted wisdom teeth or complex extractions. After the extraction, patients are advised on post-operative care, which may include pain management and dietary restrictions.
Dr. Matthysse will place a collagen plug for patients who choose not to replace the tooth. A collagen plug reduces the risk of bleeding and dry socket. Patients who choose to have the tooth replaced will have a bone graft and membrane placed to help reinforce the dental bone that is responsible for stabilizing your teeth for your future restoration.
